The Northern Salt Road Blood Orange Gin takes the distillery's gin recipe and builds on it with Italian botanicals, led by authentic Sicilian blood oranges. Sea salt sourced from the region of Puglia rounds out the small batch recipe, giving the spirit a sea-to-summit character.
The name points to the Via del Sale, the salt road traveled as far back as the Middle Ages, when merchants loaded their "white gold" onto mules and covered hundreds of miles to reach the towns where sea salt was traded and sold. The bottling frames that route as a mix of culture, history, and gastronomy.
Expect notes of fresh blood oranges, sage and salt across the palate, adding a new dimension to gin cocktails; the producer points to a Negroni for the full flavor. Bottled at 40% alcohol by volume, 80 proof, in a 750 ml bottle.
