Englishman John Burroughs began making gin in the 19th century at John Taylor & Co., where he most notably distilled Beefeater until the 1950s. Cousins of Burroughs, the Hayman family joined the company mid-century and eventually bought the Fine Alcohols Division (renamed Hayman's) and sold the Beefeater side. In 2007, Hayman's reintroduced the world to Old Tom Gin, the first on the market in over 60 years. Their line of gin is consistently considered one of the finest representations of old-world London styles.
