Introduction
Gabbiano Chianti Classico originates from the historic heart of the Tuscany region in Italy. The Castello di Gabbiano estate has a storied winemaking legacy dating back to the 12th century and is recognized as one of the oldest and most respected producers in the region. Their winemaking philosophy centers on "consistency of the tradition," blending ancient heritage with modern techniques to craft an authentic expression of the Chianti Classico terroir.
Wine Description
This wine displays a deep ruby red colour in the glass. The sensory profile is highly fragrant, offering aromas of violets, red berries, and black fruit, with distinct undertones of spice and tobacco. On the palate, it is medium bodied and balanced, delivering flavours of bright red cherry, plum, and licorice, accented by notes of white pepper and nutmeg. The structure is characterized by firm tannins and a juicy acidity that provides a refreshing, mouth-watering finish. The varietal composition is predominantly Sangiovese, often blended with small amounts of other traditional grapes such as Canaiolo or Merlot to add complexity. This wine typically has an ABV of 13% to 13.5%.
Food Pairing
This food-friendly Chianti Classico is an excellent match for traditional Italian cuisine, particularly tomato-based pasta dishes like spaghetti Bolognese or lasagna. It also pairs effectively with grilled or roasted meats, such as Bistecca alla Fiorentina (Florentine steak), roasted pork, or rosemary-garlic roasted chicken. For a cheese course, it complements aged varieties like Pecorino Toscano or Parmesan.
